Navratna Shimla Mirch
Navratna Shimla Mirch / Navratna Capsicum Recipe is a popular recipe of central India. It's made up of shimla mirch / capsicum along with green peas and other green vegetables. It's very healthy recipe especially enjoyed during winter season. It's a perfect combination of dry fruits & fresh cream, blended perfectly.
Best enjoyed when served with chapati / roti / jeera rice.
Preparation Time: 10 minutes Cooking Time: 30 minutes
Ingredients:-
Capsicum- 4 medium size(chopped)
Green Peas- 1.5 cup
Tomato- 2 medium size(chopped)
Onion- 2 medium size(sliced)
Ginger- 2 inch
Green Chilli- 9 to 10
Garlic- 12 to 16 cloves
Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder- 3 tsp
Turmeric Powder- 3 tsp
Cumin Powder- 3 tsp
Coriander Powder- 3 tsp
Salt- to taste
Garam Masala- 2 tsp
Whole Garam Masala- 3 cloves, 2 inch cinnamon stick, 2 cardamon, bay leaf
Sugar- for taste
Refined Oil- 3 tbsp
Kasturi Methi- 1 tbsp
Dry Fruits- Raisins 10 gm, Cashew 10 gm
Fresh Cream- 3 tbsp
Method:-
GINGER GARLIC GREEN CHILLI PASTE-
1. Take a mixer grinder add the green chillies, ginger & garlic.
2. Then make a paste of it.
ONION PASTE-
1. Take a mixer grinder add the sliced onions.
2. Then make a paste of it.
TOMATO PUREE-
1. Take a mixer grinder add the chopped tomatoes.
2. Then make a paste of it.
NAVRATNA MASALA-
1. Take a frying pan add the refined oil. Keep the flame at low heat.
2. Add the whole garam masala, let the whole garam masala roast a bit.
3. Then add the onion paste & stir well.
4. Add the ginger garlic green chilli paste & stir well. Keep the flame at medium heat.
5. Then add the spices and mix properly.
6. Let it cook for while, then add kasturi methi & mix.
7. Now add the sugar & mix well.
8. After a while add the tomato puree, mix well to cook properly.
9. After 4 to 5 minutes, add the capsicum, green peas & mix.
10. Then add about 0.5 cup of water & stir.
11. Then cover the frying pan with its lid & let it cook at medium heat.
12. After 8 to 10 minutes, open the lid & add the fresh cream, mix well.
13. Add the dry fruits & mix well. Keep the flame at medium heat.
14. Keep cooking until the capsicum is soft & properly cooked.
15. Best served with roti / jeera rice.
